Abstract Art: Paul Klee and Kandinsky

Red Oval, Kandinsky, image from Wiki Commons.

I am in the midst of planning a year’s worth of art for Harmony Fine Arts, grade twelve. Can I tell you that this is the hardest period of art for me to research? The twentieth century was a time of some very strange art, in my humble opinion.

But, in amongst the craziness I have found some things I really like. Do you want me to share?

Make sure to click the links so you can see the artwork. This artwork is hard to find to share because it isn’t in the public domain so I will give you some links to view.

First of all, I present Paul Klee.

Blue Night, 1937.

Heroic Rose
s, 1938.

Rose Garden, 1920.

Cat and Bird, 1928.

Now some Kandinsky.

Yellow. Red. Blue
. 1925

Color Studies
, 1927.

Red Oval, 1920.

Colorful Ensemble, 1938.

So what do you think, pretty awesome or not? I have come to appreciate all kinds of art and with abstracts or abstract expressionism it takes a little time to warm up to them.

I would love to hear your favorites.
