Intimate Impressionism – Claude Monet

Intimate Impressionism from @harmonyfinearts

I am continuing to prepare for my up-coming trip to the Intimate Impressionism exhibit at the Legion of Honor. I love Claude Monet’s paintings and eagerly anticipate seeing some at this event. I am also contemplating another trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on a trip to New York later in the spring. So much to look forward to!!!

This week we are going to take a closer look at Claude Monet. There is so much information out there about Monet so don’t get overwhelmed. Keep it simple!

Monet Notebook Page

Use the notebook page above to create a simple record of your study. I am studying the painting shown on the notebook page: Sailboats on the Seine.

Just for fun, compare Monet’s painting to Gustave Caillebotte’s Sailboats on the Seine.

Look at your local public library for any children’s books on Monet. Share a little of the history of impressionism with them as well. I really like this book if you want to go deeper:Monet and the Impressionists for Kids: Their Lives and Ideas, 21 Activities (For Kids series)
