Mothers frequently ask me how to keep composer study a regular part of their routine. My response is to share our family’s experience of keeping to one 10-15 minute period of music appreciation each week. We would focus on one composer at a time and listen for a number of weeks.
Our family followed the Charlotte Mason principle of short, frequent lessons when it came to art and music appreciation. It became the foundation of my Harmony Fine Arts plans for composer study.
Would you like a few more details? I wrote this post a long time ago when I was in the thick of homeschooling my sons. It will give you some practical ideas for your family’s music appreciation:

It can be intimidating to get started with composer study but with the ideas in the archive post you’ll feel more confident in giving it a try with your children.

Don’t you have 10-15 minutes in your week to spare for this important element of your child’s education, developing a life-long love of listening to great music?
