Music Appreciation Monday- Mendelssohn’s Gondola Song

Music Appreciation on Harmony Fine Arts @harmonyfinearts.org Join us every Monday for a new musical selection.Music Appreciation Monday – Felix Mendelssohn

Our composer this week is Felix Mendelssohn. He wrote this piece of music to help us imagine what it would be like to float on the canals of Venice, Italy in a gondola. I can close my eyes and feel the smooth water under the boat as the gondolier poles the boat along under the Italian sun. It might feel a bit like when I float down the river in my kayak in the summertime.

Does this music make you feel like you are floating in a boat? What does it make you think about as you listen?

Do you know what a gondola is? Here is a wonderful painting of a Venetian gondola by Camille Corot.

I hope you enjoyed listening to Mendelssohn and we will look forward to another of his composition soon!
